This site is to showcase my new obsession of skinning applications.
A little bit about me.

Well, I never thought I would be a blogger, but neither did I think I would become obsessed with skinning. So it just goes to show you that you never know what the new day holds.

Currently, I work full time at Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University (ERAU) as the Webmaster for the Extended Campus division. I've been at ERAU for just over three years. I do some Web sites on the side, so I'm pretty busy. I have been working in the computer industry for the past 23 years. Seventeen years ago I started Badger Enterprises and operated that company for 9 years. I then moved into the world of the Internet by becoming Webmaster, designer, programmer, and partner in the Virtual Reality Mall Corporation. In 1999, my father and I started Badger.Org, Inc. About four years ago, during the "dot com" bust, I had to close down Badger.Org. I still have a website there at http://www.badger.org, to pick up side work.

I own the copyright to several industry-specific software programs, that include self-storage, mobile home park management, and cremation services. Some of the other accolades that I feel good about are over 112 awards for design and concept of Virtual Reality Mall, Winning first place in VRML modeling for Yahoo 3D, and designing a race car chassis engineering program that won the 1989 "Racing Product of the Year" award at the Indianapolis 500 Trade Show.

Im a big fan of movies and collect DVDs. I like all types, but lean toward science fiction and action DVDs. Im also a bit of a musician, writer, photographer and artist. I do have some health issues. I'm an insulin dependent diabetic. I also have periphial neuropathy in both legs. I can get around just fine, but I can't walk for long distances. Although I have health issues, I keep a very positive outlook on life, and tend to find the humor in my situation rather than talk about the negative issues.

I guess that's enough about me. When I get a chance, I'll post some thoughts here. I've got bunches of them

L8r,
Doug

Whats a skinner? The only thing that comes to mind involved various pelts and isn't very pleasant to think about...

Philomedy, I think he's refering to the changing of the appearance of computer applications, ie their skins. Or maybe he just likes his wildlife

Skinning applications is changing the way they look. Programs like WindowBlinds, Object Desktop and many others allow you to change the whole appearance of Windows 2000/XP. Bootskins allow you to change the startup image, and Logon Studio allows you to change the Windows logon screen. Then there are other applications like WinAmp which have allowed you to make your own "skin" for their program for years.

Since this blogging site was a part of creating a Web site on www.wincustomize.com, I thought a lot of the bloggers here would be either artists/skinners or people who downloaded the stuff. There I go thinking again

I'll branch out to politics, and so on in future entries to my blog.

Doug

No worries. It seems I'm the only one who saw "skinning" and pictured hollowed out furry creatures. Perhaps I should speak to someone about this...
